Personalized Behavioral Skills Training

What is Personalized Behavioral Skills Training (PBST)?

What is Personalized Behavioral Skills Training (PBST)?

Personalized Behavioral Skills Training (PBST) is a way to teach new behaviors or skills, using a step-by-step approach. It’s based on the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), but it’s not the same as ABA therapy. PBST helps teach a wide variety of skills, from simple daily tasks to more complex social behaviors, and it is customized to fit the unique needs of each individual

*Our services are for everyone, including those with and without disabilities*

Why is PBST Effective?

What is Personalized Behavioral Skills Training (PBST)?

What is Personalized Behavioral Skills Training (PBST)?

PBST is structured and evidence-based, which means it’s proven to work. The process breaks down skills into smaller, easier-to-learn steps, which makes it easier for individuals to succeed. This approach can be used for teaching children, parents, and even staff members.

Though PBST is rooted in the science of ABA, it is not the same as therapy—it’s a useful tool for teaching practical skills in a way that’s tailored to each person’s learning style.

How Does PBST Work?

What is Personalized Behavioral Skills Training (PBST)?

How Does PBST Work?

PBST follows four key steps:

  1. Instruction: The therapist explains the skill to be learned.
  2. Modeling: The therapist shows how to perform the skill.
  3. Rehearsal: The learner practices the skill while the therapist provides feedback.
  4. Feedback: The therapist gives specific comments to encourage correct actions and guide improvement.
